My focus is on assessing the challenges and needs of the child, the parent and the child-parent relationship. I always begin with a 60-minute parent session where I gather historical information and hear about the parents’ concerns and hopes for their child. Once information has been gathered, we will make a plan on how to proceed to achieve your goals. Some of the approaches I may suggest are:
Circle of Security Parenting™
I am trained to facilitate Circle of Security Parenting™ an 8-week program based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. The focus is to become more aware of children’s needs for a safe haven, a secure base for exploration, and meeting the child’s needs through relationship.
Watch, Wait and Wonder: Infant-led Intervention
I have completed Watch, Wait and Wonder: Infant-led Intervention developed by Elisabeth Muir, Mirek Lojkasek, and Nancy J. Cohen. Watch, Wait and Wonder is a dyadic infant/child-led approach to problems in infancy and early childhood. The parent follows the infant/child’s lead in the play, then the parent and therapist engage in a reflective discussion of the parent observations and experience.
I have completed Child-Parent Psychotherapy training and rostering is in progress. Child-Parent Psychotherapy developed by Alicia Lieberman and Patricia Van Horn is an evidenced-based intervention designed to repair the behavioral and emotional problems of infants, toddlers and preschoolers whose most intimate relationships are disrupted by experiences of maltreatment, violence and trauma.
